For more than a century, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. has been in the forefront of other Greek letter organizations with a focus of honorable achievement in every field of human endeavor and community service. and the Cleveland (OH) Alumni Chapter prides itself in upholding the values of our Fraternity’s Founders.

In the month of October 1920, a petition by four Kappa Brothers, Dr. Herbert Wallace, Dr. John Finley, Harold Tyler, and Raymond Gee, was submitted and accepted by Grand Chapter. The effective charter date was established as October 15, 1920; thus, Cleveland Alumni Chapter was born. In December 1920 the newly formed chapter was called upon to entertain the 11th Grand Chapter meeting in December 1921.

Following our theme of “Dedication to Achievement”, our esteemed brother, Former Congressman Louis Stokes, was nominated for the Laurel Wreath Award, making him the first brother from Cleveland (OH) Alumni to be nominated for the highest award in the Fraternity. In 1985 Cleveland Alumni Chapter was selected by the National Kappa Alpha Psi Achievement Commission for the Paul W. Caine Alumni Chapter of the Year Award. In 1986 Cleveland Alumni Chapter was awarded funds by HUD to build a seven-story building housing ten (10) Handicap Suites and sixty (60) apartments.

With “service to community” in mind, the Cleveland (OH) Alumni Chapter, Scholarship Foundation and chapter members have contributed over $300,000 to high school seniors and local and national charities.
